Carol Leidahl, 62, of Decorah, died suddenly Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at her home, after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m., at Glenwood Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, with the Rev. Susan Debner officiating.

Alan Sensor was the organist. lona Crawford, the soloist, sang "In the Garden" and "God Be With You". The congregation sang "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives".

Casket bearers were Jon Vine, Jay Larson, Roger Berg, Ray Kvamme, Rick Langland and Robert Sersland.

Interment was at the Big Canoe Lutheran Cemetery in rural Decorah. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Carol Lea (Severson) Leidahl was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Decorah, the daughter of Leonard and Ruth (Iverson) Severson. She was baptized Feb. 7, 1937, and confirmed April 2, 1950, both at Big Canoe Lutheran Church.

She graduated from Decorah High School and worked at the ASCS office from 1953-58.

On May 12, 1957, she was married to Wayne Leidahl at Big Canoe Church. To this union, three children were born.

An avid gardener, Carol was known for her floral arrangements and entered many at the county fair. She also enjoyed writing poetry, taught Sunday School for many years and was an active member of Glenwood Lutheran Church Women and circle.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; one son, Daniel and Carla Leidahl of Decorah; one daughter, Brenda and Brian Freilinger of Decorah; five grandchildren, Joshua, Jason and Lucas Leidahl, and Randy and Brent Freilinger; and two brothers, Phillip and Shirley Severson of Decorah, and Kenny and Deanna Severson of Rochester, Minn.

Carol Leidahl was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Dale Eric, who died March 19, 1963; and a brother, Leonard Jr.
