Clarence Melvin Rausch

Clarence Rausch, 80, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

A funeral mass was held Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waucoma, with the Rev. Raphael Ludwig officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Vincent Simon, the Rev. Msgr. Leander Reicks and the Rev. Ament.

Rick Mihm was the lector. Mass servers were April Balk, Brent Balk and Marshall Rogne.

Casket bearers were Randy Kuennen, Gary Huinker, Carl Kriener, Tom Schmitt, Chris Rogne and Dan Busta.

Honorary bearers were George Hackman, Wayne Anfinson, Bernard Deeny, Greg Kriener, Donald Deeny and Alvin Myers.

Interment was at the St. Mary's Cemetery. The Burnham-Wood Funeral Home of West Union handled arrangements.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 22, after 3 p.m., at the Waucoma Funeral Chapel with C.D.A. rosary at 4 p.m., scripture service at 6 p.m., and a Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 7 p.m.

Clarence Melvin Rausch was born Aug. 3, 1919, at Jackson Junction, where he lived his whole life, the son of Leo and Agnes (Haas) Rausch. He attended Waucoma Catholic School and Waucoma High School.

On June 24, 1942, Clarence was united in marriage to Colette Mihm at St. Mary's Church and to this union were born three daughters. The couple lived on the same farm all their married lives.

Clarence was a retired farmer, did carpenter work for area residents and drove school bus for 16 years for Turkey Valley Community School.

He was mayor of Jackson Junction for 14 years and also served on the City/Town Council. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Waucoma Jolly Old Timers. Clarence enjoyed traveling and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife, Colette; three daughters, JoAnn Stone of Minneapolis, Minn., Judy and Larry DeSloover of Waucoma, and Joyce and Dennis Rogne of Cresco; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
