Edwin J. Weber

Edwin J. Weber, 94, of Decorah, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at the Aase Haugen Home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Decorah, with the Rev. James Dale officiating.

The Rev. Kristen Kyamme was the organist. Betty Springer sang "Hymn of Promise." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great
Thou Art."

Casket bearers were Lester Erickson, Jr., Thomas Erickson, Dwayne Johnson, Curtis Gremm, William Wedmann and Arnold Weiss.

Burial was at the Canoe Methodist Cemetery, rural Decorah. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Edwin was born Oct. 26, 1905 in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County, at the home of his parents, Henry and Emma (Shoo) Weber. He attended the rural schools of Canoe Township.

He was married to Willie Alice Handy Sept. 1, 1950, in Angola, Ind. The couple farmed in Canoe Township for 39 years.

Edwin was a member of First United Methodist Church. He had been a resident of the Aase Haugen Home since Dec. 15, 1999.

Survivors include one daughter, Janelle Weber and fiance Brian Johnson of Decorah; one son and three grandchildren, Mike and Shannon Weber of Streamwood, Illinois, and their children, Chantel, Nathan and Sarah; three nieces, Sally Watson of Mandeville, La., Betty Springer of Hampton and Linda Wedmann of Decorah; and two sisters-in-law, Alma Weber of Decorah and Regina Weber of Hampton.

Edwin Weber was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willie, who died April 3, 1989; two brothers, Earl and Willard; and two sisters, Lydia Bolson and Emily Weber.
