Frank E. Klimesh

Frank E. Klimesh, 79, of Spillville, died Thursday, May 25, 2000 at the Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis., after a short illness.

Funeral mass was held on Wednesday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. The Rev. Donald Hawes officiated the service. Burial was held in the church cemetery.

Balik Funeral Home of Spillville handled the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of Decorah; two sons, Michael of SpilIville and Steven of Kingwood, Tex.; and one sister, Marion Hosper of
Calmar, Iowa.

Frank Klimesh

Frank Edward Klimesh, 79, of Spillville died at La Crosse Lutheran Hospital on Thursday, May 25, 2000.

The military funeral was held on Wednesday, May 31 at 11 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. The Balik Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Donald Hawes was the officiant for the mass service. Doris Thompson was the organist and Dan Silhacek was the soloist.

Internment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.

In honorary attendance were the Spillville American Legion Clarence Bily Post 467. Casket bearers were Legion members.

Frank was born April 9, 1921, the son of Frank V. and Mayme (Holub) Klimesh. He attended school in Spillville and graduated from Decorah High School in 1939. He enlisted in the United States Navy March 21, 1940. He served in the United States and both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II.

On June 8, 1943 he married Mary Lou Haug. They became the parents of two sons, Michael of Spillville and Steven of Houston, Texas.

Since his discharge from the Navy in 1946, he was in the hardware and plumbing and heating business for many years. He also served as the mayor of Spillville. He was a member of the Catholic Workman, St. Wenceslaus Holy Name Society and the American Legion.

Frank was an avid fisherman and spent much time pursuing his favorite hobby. He also enjoyed watching and feeding birds. Since July of 1998, due to failing health, he was a resident of Aase Haugen Home and more recently Barthell Eastern Star Nursing Home in Decorah.

Frank is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, at Eastern Star, sons Michael and Steven, granddaughters, Adrienne, Eryn, Heather and Jessica and a sister, Marian Hosper.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Morris and Elmer.
