Leroy W. Einck

Leroy "Roy" W. Einck, age 65, of Elgin, Minn., died Monday, May 29, 2000 of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview, Minn. Father Donald Connelly will be officiating.

Friends may call one hour before the funeral service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for visitation.

Burial will take place at Our Lady of Seven Donors Catholic Cemetery in Festina, Iowa.

Schleicher Funeral Home of Plainview, Minn, is handling the arrangements.

Einck was born on February 21, 1935 in Festina, Iowa. He attended Our Lady of Seven Donors Catholic School in Festina through tenth grade. He later graduated from Calmar High School.

After graduation, Leroy went on to the LaSalle Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. He later went to work for Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in 1953.

On Dec. 27 1960, Leroy married Deanna K. Dunn in Truman, Minn. After their marriage, he worked in various cities until the company merged with Union Pacific Railroad in 1997. Leroy and his family moved to Elgin, Minn, and continued to work for the railroad company until his retirement in 1999.

Leroy enjoyed gardening, collecting baseball cards, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church in Plainview, Minn.

Survivors include his wife Deanna; four sons, Michael of Oakdale, Minn., Thomas of White Bear Lake, Minn., John of Seattle, Wash., and Robert of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Lorraine Schrandt of Festina, Iowa, and Rose Natham of Oelwein, Iowa; three brothers, Jerome of Waucoma, Iowa, Leander of Calmar, Iowa, and Leo; and three grandchildren.

Leroy W. Einck was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph H. and Catherine (Huinker) Einck, two brothers, and one sister.
