Orland L. Haugen

Orland L. Haugen, 79, of Penn Yan, N.Y. died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. A private memorial service was held Wednesday, July 5, at Weldon Funeral Home in Penn Yan, N.Y., with the Rev. Wayne Butler officiating. Friends were invited to a reception at Lakeside Country Club at 3 p.m.

Orland Haugen was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Decorah, the son of Edwin and Louise (Usgaard) Haugen. He was a graduate of Luther College, in Decorah, and Michigan State University.

He was a manager of Plainwell Canning Co. in Plainwell, Mich.

Orland was a member of the Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, Mich., and a lifetime member of the B.P.O. E. Elks in Plainwell, Mich.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah; one son, Mark and Maureen Haugen and children Brittany and Lucas from Wilmette, Illinois; one daughter, Leslie and Kevin Dunn of Danbury, Vt., and children Kelley and Chance; one step-son, Mark and Karen Peper of Northville, Mich, and their children Nicholas and Ashley; one step-daughter, Sandra and Stan Tokarski of Kalamazoo, Mich., and their children, Austin and Meaghan; one sister, Irma (Mrs. Francis) Arness of Decorah; one niece and one nephew.

Orland Haugen was preceded in death by a son, Erik, who died in 1997.
