Marjorie Ann "Marge" Lowe

Marge Lowe, 63, of Ionia, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City of a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, with the Rev. John Hemann officiating.

Marie Siglin was the organist. She accompanied the church choir and those in attendance in singing "On Eagle's Wings,""You Are Near," "Only A Shadow," and "How Great Thou Art."

The lector was Tom Reicks. Mass servers were Nathan Brown, Megan Brown and Sara Hoffman.

Casket bearers were Mark Barth, Mike Barth, Scott Barth, Bob Lowe, Pat Reicks and Robert Reicks.

Burial was at the church cemetery. The Ionia Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Marjorie Ann (Barth) Lowe was born Jan. 18, 1937, at Cresco, the daughter of Chester and Mildred (Lyngaas) Barth.

She graduated from Decorah High School in 1956, and then went on to attend Mankato (Minn.) Commercial College for one year.

On Oct. 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to John Lowe at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah. Following their marriage, the couple resided in St. Paul, Minn., Elma and Fredericksburg.

They then moved to Ionia, where they owned and operated the Ionia Furniture Store and Ionia Funeral Home.

Marge was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and the St. Boniface Guild in Ionia.

Survivors include her husband, John of Ionia; three daughters, Lola and Alan Meyer of St. Lucas, Linda and Warren Fretheim of Ridgeway, and Debra Lowe of Ionia; one son, Steven of Ionia; two grandchildren, Amber and Kyle Fretheim of Ridgeway; and one brother, Milton and Ardys Barth of Decorah.

Marge Lowe was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Helen Dorothy Barth, who died in infancy.
