Robert Hanson

Robert Hanson, 71, of New Albin, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 at Tweeten Health Services, Spring Grove, Minn.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at Peace United Church of Christ in Crooked Creek, Minn., with Rev. William Reese officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery at a later date. Jandt Funeral Home of Caledonia, Minn., handled arrangements.

Robert G. "Bob" Hanson was born Feb. 14, 1930 in Winneshiek County, the son of Grant and Ruth (Sanness) Hanson.

On April 6, 1930, Bob Hanson was baptized at the Iowa River Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Big Canoe Lutheran Church by pastor William Hexom on Nov. 12, 1944.

On Feb. 4, 1956, he married Mavis Wunnecka at Peace United Church of Christ in Crooked Creek.

Bob farmed for some years and worked for Winneshiek County in road maintenance for 23 years.

On Nov. 10, 1996, he and his wife moved to New Albin.

He enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River and driving his John Deere tractors.

Surviving Bob Hanson are his wife, Mavis Hanson; four daughters: Gerry and Tony Klug of Caledonia, Minn.; Diana of La Crosse, Wisc.; Connie of Ridgeway; and Mary Lou and Russell Gerard of Spring Grove; three grandchildren; the family dog, "Skippy", a brother, Don Hanson of Decorah; two sisters, Doris and Sanford Morken and Janice and Owen Storlie, all of Spring Grove; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert G. "Bob" Hanson was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. from Peace United Church of Christ, Crooked Creek, Minn. The Rev. William Reese will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred.

Bob will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
