Leroy O. Ott
Leroy O. Ott, 47, of Dyersville, died Thursday morning, Aug. 5, 1999, east of Dyersville as the result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m., at the St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with the Rev. Ed Petty officiating, and the Rev. John O'Connor concelebrating.
Casket bearers were Steve White, Matt McClintic, Jason Ott, Dave White, Kelly Koenig, Brandon Ruen, Rick Ruen and D. J. White.
Honorary bearers were Marv Tauke, Al Gibbs, Hank Ehrlich, Dave Bell, Jim Oberfoell, Randy Schell and Dave Gross.
Honorary escort was the staff at Leroy's Pizza and Restaurant represented by Gwen Benn, Luella Lueken, Candy and Cassie Lehman, Melissa Riesbetg, Kelly Steger, Lois Scherbring, Karolyn Their, Lori Nichol, Angie Pape, Jackie Wulfekuhle, Jeremy Reiter, Brad Ankenbauer, Nathan Kass, Matt Krapfl and Chris Horstman.
Burial was in the church cemetery. The Kramer Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Leroy was born March 14, 1952, in Ossian, the son of Roman and Philomena (Hageman) Ott. He married Duanne Ruen Dec. 29, 1973, in Decorah.
They moved to Dyersville in 1978 and owned and operated Leroy's Pizza and Restaurant.
Leroy enjoyed spending his leisure time fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed his family.
Survivors include his wife, Duanne; one son, Michael Lee and Jennifer Ott of Coralville; two daughters, Amanda Ann Ott and special friend Jared Pins of Cedar Rapids, and Jessica Theresa Ott at home; three brothers, Darrell and JoAnn Ott, and Myron Ott of Ossian,-and Leon and Lynne Ott of Webster City; one sister, Eileen "Tootie" and Bill Otis of Onalaska, Wis.; a special mother-in-law, Bev and Don White of Decorah; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. David and Susan Ruen of Mason City, Karla and Kelly Koenig of Waunakee, Wis., Kevin Ruen of Brainerd, Minn., and Lea and Doug Daniels of Virginia Beach, Va.
Leroy Ott was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mamie White.
