Geraldine Lucretia "Geri" Marsh

Geraldine L. "Geri" Marsh, 73, of Decorah, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 at the Aase Haugen Home, of respiratory disease.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Decorah with Rev. Steven Jacobsen officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Howard and Wanda Bernatz, Chuck and Marilyn Istad, Dean and Evelyn Morem and Richard and Margaret Rostvald.

Organist was Marcia Engebretson and soloist was Susan Sacquitne Druck.

The congregation sang "Lift High the Cross".

Burial will be at Phelps Cemetery at a later date. Fjelstul Funeral Home of Decorah is in charge of arrangements.

Geraldine Lucretia Brokken was born Sept. 9, 1927 in LaCrosse, Wisc., the daughter of John and Hilda (Christopherson) Brokken.

She was baptized in November 1927 and confirmed in May 1941 at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony, where she was raised as a member.

Graduating from the high school in 1945 in Harmony, Minn., she was also a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Mo.

She married Denton Marsh June 25, 1949 in Decorah.

From 1960-72, Geraldine worked in the Selective Service System, and from 1974-1988 in the Social Security Office in Decorah.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, and belonged to the Elks Club and Oneota Golf and Country Club.

The Marsh's were married for over 51 years and lived at Decorah through all those years.

Survivors include her husband, Denton Marsh of Decorah; three daughters: Crisan Singer of Decorah; Debra and Mark McDougall of Melbourne, Australia; and Holly and Arnold Larson of Decorah; and a son, Todd and Michelle Marsh of Mundelein, Illinois; a brother, Jack Brokken of Rochester, Minn., close friend and first cousin, Christine and Bill Simeral of Wheaton, Illinois; and five grandchildren.

Lucretia "Geri" Marsh was preceded in death by her parents.
