Eleanor Aldredge

Eleanor Aldredge, 79, formerly of Decorah, died Wednesday Aug. 23, 2000, at the Elmwood Nursing Home in Aurora, Illinois, following a short illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at the French and Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, with the Rev. Dale Milbrandt officiating.

Burial was at Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.

Eleanor (Thorson) Aldredge was born Sept. 23, 1920, in Burr Oak, the daughter of Selmer and Macie (Emery) Thorson. She attended country school.

In January of 1939, Eleanor was married to Dimmitt Aldredge. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling and playing the piano.

Survivors include two sons, Robert and Alma Aldredge of Montgomery, Illinois, and Eugene and Irene Aldredge of Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Warren Flath of Lake Havasu City, Ari., and Robert Thorson of Rushford, Minn.; and two sisters, Nina Tollefson of Marion, and Doris Nelson of Rochester, Minn.

Eleanor Aldredge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dimmitt, who died in 1982; and brothers Arlie, Donald, Gerald and Dean Thorson.
