Roberta M. Lowery, 84, of Decorah, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital

Graveside services were held Sunday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m., at Phelps Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Joti Duder, Cory Lowery, Scott Duder, Myles Lowery, Morgan Lowery and Bryan Lowery. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Roberta Marian (Telford) Lowery was born in Winneshiek County Aug. 1, 1916, the daughter of Jeannett (Wood) and William Telford. She was Decorah High School graduate.

She was married to Horace J. Lowery April 30, 1938. Roberta worked as a secretary for the A & J Agency and for the Winneshiek County Superintendent of Schools office. Roberta retired in 1978 as an executive secretary for the Keystone Area Education Agency.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Survivors include three children, Ann and George Duder of Decorah, Michael and Mary Lowery of Horicon, Wis., and David and Krisann Lowery of Decorah; grandchildren Jons and Robyn Duder, Cory Lowery, Scott and Jen Duder, Myles Lowery, Morgan Lowery and Bryan Lowery and great-grandchildren Christianna and Michael Duder.

Those surviving also include two sisters, Mildred and Walter Johnson of Hendricks, Minn., and Carol and Thomas Norman of Fullerton, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Telford of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

Roberta Lowery was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Horace, who died in 1966; and her brother Vernon.
