Herman Knudsvig

Herman Knudsvig, 88, of Decorah, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon following a short illness.

Funeral services were held May 19 at 11 a.m. at Decorah Lutheran Church.

Pastor Bryan Robertson officiated and organist was Alan Sensor.

Casket bearers were Lester Erickson, Jr., Tom Thompson, Russell Thompson, Tim Boyle, Greg Eide and Andrew Kurtzel.

lnterment was at the Stavanger Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Ossian and French and Balik Funeral Home of Decorah provided arrangements.

Herman Oliver Knudsvig was born March 27, 1913, the son of Severt and Anna (Mork) Knudsvig in Dover Township, Fayette County. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at the Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian.

He farmed with his brother, Henry Knudsvig, in both Fayette and Winneshiek counties until 1955.

Herman Knudsvig then went to Roverud Construction, where he was employed for 30 years until he retired in 1985.

Herman Knudsvig enjoyed fishing, gardening, yard work, fixing things and going on drives.

Survivors include a brother, Henry Knudsvig and a sister, Emma Elde, both of Decorah, and several nieces and nephew.

Herman Oliver Knudsvig was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Arthur, Peter, Otto, Reuben, Joseph and Elmer Knudsvig and by one sister, Agnes Knudsvig.

Funeral services for Herman O. Knudsvig of Decorah were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the French and Balik Funeral Home. Interment was in Stavanger Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Herman, 88, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at the Good Samaritan Home in Waukon following a short illness.
Herman is survived by one brother: Henry of Decorah; and one sister: Emma Eide also of Decorah.
