Eleanor Kapell

Eleanor Kapell, 96, of Wells, Minn., and formerly of Ossian, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001 at Naeve Parkview Home in Wells after a short illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Wells, with Rev. Eugene Stenzel officiating.

Casket bearers were Warren Vick, Roy Tschetter, Dan Wurger, Francis Wilder, Karl Zweibohmer and Ken Zweibohmer.

Interment was at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery in Ossian, with Msgr. Cletus Hawes officiating.

Eleanor Kapell was born July 26, 1904 to Theodore and Barbara (Bonfig)Kapell in Ossian.

She attended St. Francis de Sales School and received a musical degree from Immaculate Conception Academy in Dubuque on May 8, 1924.

Eleanor Kapell moved to Wells after graduation and taught piano and organ lessons for many years. She also was organist and choir director at St. Casimir's Church until her retirement.

Surviving Eleanor Kapell are nine nieces: Eleanor Kapler, of Jackson Junction; Evelyn Secora of Fort Atkinson; Roslyn Poshusta of Spillville; Barbara Skish of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; Theresa Randolph of Duluth, Minn.; Arlene Vick of Hill City, S.D.; Celine Schumann of Deming, N.M.; Arlette Schneider of Clermont; and Mary Jane Callas of Hiawatha.

Additional survivors include five nephews: Albert Zweibohmer of Calmar; Dennis Craig of San Jose, Calif.; Ted Kapell of Blue Grass, Iowa; Al Joe Kapell of Blue Grass; and Robert Kapell of Blue Grass, as well as many grand nieces and nephews, and special friend Arlean Rollenhagen of Wells.

Eleanor Kapell was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Rose Kapell, Sophie Zweibohmer and Mayme Zweibohmer, and three brothers, Theodore, Edward, and Albert Kapell.
