Delores Lansing
Delores Marie Lansing, 74, of Ossian, died at her residence north of Ossian, after a lingering illness.
A funeral mass was held Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian, with the Rev. Msgr. Cletus Hawes officiating.
Deb Scheidel was the organist. Music was provided by the St. Francis adult choir and community singers, with special music by Sarah Zoulek.
Lectors were Melvin Elsbernd and George Letts. Receiving the offertory gifts were Katie Elsbernd, Scott Elsbernd, Sari Lansing, Darrah Lansing and Landon Santori.
Eucharistic ministers were William and Elsie Dessel. Mass servers were Megan Gullickson, Tim Hageman and Kayla Brincks.
Casket bearers were Darcy Broszeit, Melvin Elsbernd, Matthew Lansing, Marcus Lansing, Flory Leo Jr., Mark Santori and Monte Wood.
In honorary attendance were members of the Catholic Daughters of Americas. They also said the rosary during visitation.
Interment was at the St. Francis Cemetery in Ossian. The Schmitz Funeral Home of Ossian handled arrangements.
Delores (Bollnak) Lansing was born Sept. 17, 1926, at New Hampton, the daughter of Michael and Anna (Hyke) Bollnak. She was baptized in her faith when she was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in New Hampton.
On May 21, 1936, she received her First Holy Communion at St, Bridget's Church, New Hampton, from the Rev. Louis Grunewal.
She was confirmed Dec. 15, 1939, at St. John Nepomucene Church in Fort Atkinson by the Rev. W. A. Dostal. Delores received her Solemn Holy Communion May 11,1941, again at St. John's Nepomucene by the Rev. W. A. Dostal.
As a young child, from March 1, 1936, until March of 1937, she lived on a farm near Bluffton. In 1937 her family moved to the George Wheatman farm near Decorah until January of 1938. Later, her family moved to Fort Atkinson, where she lived until moving to her present address in 1946 upon her husband's return from the United States Army.
Delores received her elementary education by attending St. John's Catholic School in Fort Atkinson, graduating in 1941 from the eighth grade. She received her secondary education at the Fort Atkinson High School.
The Rev. Stephen Kucera joined Delores in marriage with Norbert J. Lansing Jan. 18, 1945, at St.. John's Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson. To their union six children were born.
At the time of her death, Delores was residing at the family farm and was still involved in farming interests with her three sons - Gary, Dale and Kevin Lansing.
Delores was a longtime member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, its Rosary Society, a 50-year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court No. 983; and a 28-year member of the Brockman-Hammersland American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 503 of Ossian.
She was a longtime member of the Winneshiek County Farm Bureau and a 4-H leader of the Ossian Orioles for several years.
Delores is remembered as a devoted wife and mother who was always involved with all of her children and grandchildren. She was an intricate part of their lives and always involved in their school activities. She is remembered as their support and lifeline to God. Delores also cared for her late husband, Norbert, during his prolonged illness.
Her primary interests included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family and others, playing cards, and always had an open door policy to family and friends.
Survivors included three sons, Gary and Ingrid Lansing, Dale J. and Sue Lansing and Kevin J. and Judy Lansing, all of Ossian; and two daughters, Catherine (Sharon) and George H. Letts of Sturgis, Mich., and Debra and Craig Frana of Kingsville, Texas.
There are 17 grandchildren: Daniel Schissel, Jennifer Santori, Christina Broszeit, Matthew Lansing, Melissa Lansing, Marcus Lansing, Erin Lansing, Andrea Lansing, Sari Lansing, Jadie Lansing, Heather Elsbernd, Scott Elsbernd, Katie Elsbernd, Kelly Lansing, Dana Lansing, Darrah Lansing and Micole Lansing.
There are four great-grandchildren: Landon Santori, Skyler Santori, Carter Broszeit and Ayden Broszeit

Also surviving are four sisters, Gabriella (Gail) and Flory Leo of Des Moines, Beatrice (Betty) Dickman of Des Moines, Mary Ann and Bill Dickman of New Windsor, N.Y., and Darlene (Tootie) and Jim Wood of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Mark (Bob) Bollnak of Loganville, Ga., and Dale and Gennie Bollnak of Searcy, Ark. and numerous nieces and nephews.Delores Lansing was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert, who died in 1999; a sister-in-law, Frances Bollnak in 1996; a son-in-law, Duane E. Schissel in 1995; a sister, Clementine (Tiny) Bollnak in 1981; her mother, Anna (Hyke) Bollnak in 1967; a grandson, Adam Schissel in 1965; her father, Michael Bollnak in 1960; a son, Marion Lansing in infancy Dec. 3, 1954; and sister, Regina, who also died in Infancy.
