Alma E. Barth
Alma E. Barth, 83, of Decorah, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m., at the Fireside Room at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, with visitation one hour before the service.
Organist will be the Rev. Marion Miller with congregational songs "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Here I Am Lord".
Casket bearers will be Wayne Howard, Kevin Barth, David Thompson, Roland Breeser, Kevin Breeser, Leland Breeser, Bruce Sersland and Gene Gulsrud.
Burial will be in the Locust Cemetery, rural Decorah. The French & Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Alma (Ramsey) Barth was born July 21, 1916, in Decorah, the daughter of Carl and Ida (Anderson) Ramsey. She attended country schools and Decorah High School.
She was married to Orlando Barth Sept. 6, 1942, at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.
Alma helped her husband operate the City Cab Company for several years. She also worked at the Winneshiek County Care Facility for 15 years.
She enjoyed country music, dancing, fishing, playing cards and crocheting. Alma was a member of First Lutheran Church in Decorah.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Carithers of Decorah, and Diane and Mike Frey of Decorah; two sons, Denis Barth of Decorah, and Dean and Tracy Barth of Decorah; eight grandchildren, Patrick, Christopher, Lisa and Paul Gerleman, Chad and Christina Barth, and Jacinda and Jania Barth.
Alma Barth was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando, and one son, Darrell Barth.
