Funeral services were conducted Saturday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, for Mrs. Fred (Lena) Everman, who died Wednesday, March 17 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. She had been in ill health for some time. The Rev. Perry Brown officiated.

The daughter of Charles and Anna (Althouse) Schweinefus, she was born August 13, 1898 near Eldorado. Baptized as a child into the Lutheran faith at Eldorado and later confirmed, she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia.

She was united in marriage to Fred Everman, February 24, 1921 and they made their home at Castalia. Throughout her life Mrs. Everman was active in the work of the church and raised a large garden which she freely shared with her neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1971; three brothers, Frank, Leo and another in infancy; two sister, Mrs. Don Wirlker and Mrs. Harvey Reinhardt.

Survivors include her children, Jeanette (Leslie) Anderson and Leon Everman, both of Castalia and Lois Everman of San Diego, California. There are seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; also, brothers and sisters: Otto Schweinefus, Mrs. Millard Sampson, Mrs. Tillie Meyer, Mrs. Elmer Kohls, Mrs. Elizabeth Schroeder and Mrs. Donald Stoessel.

Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Castalia.
