Catherine M. Foreman, 91, of St. Lucas, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, June 2, at St. Luke Catholic Church, St. Lucas. The Rev. David Beckman was the Mass celebrant.
Interment was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Tim Denner, Jeff Gargaro, Brian Dougherty, John Foreman Jr., Jim Foreman Jr., Ben Manderfield, Anthony McVea, and Adam Foreman.
Arrangements were handled by Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson.
Catherine Marie (Huber) Foreman, was born Aug. 15, 1918, on the family farm near Fort Atkinson. She was the daughter of Leo and Barb (Sluka) Huber.
She attended St. John's Catholic School in Fort Atkinson, graduating in 1936.
On May 3, 1939, Catherine married John F. Foreman at St. John's Catholic Church, and to their union 14 children were born.
The couple farmed and raised their family a mile west of St. Lucas. In 1981, they retired from farming and moved into St. Lucas.
Catherine was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, its choir and Rosary Society, and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
She was also a member of the St. Lucas American Legion Auxiliary.
Preceding Catherine in death were her parents, Leo and Barb (Sluka) Huber; her husband, John F. Foreman, on April 25, 1992; two grandsons; a brother, Phil (Eleanor) Huber; and three sisters, Mary (Bob) Mattes, Monica (Alf) Nienhaus, and Dorothy (Leo) Schmitz.
Catherine's survivors include her 14 children, Germaine Denner of New Hampton, Ken (Holly) Foreman of Waterloo, Joe (Pam) Foreman of Rosemount, Minn., Dorothy Gargaro of Minneapolis, Minn., Kathy (Roger) Bulgren of Northfield, Minn., Arlene (Dale) Dougherty of Decorah, John V. (Betty) Foreman of St. Lucas, Jim (Carmen) Foreman of Apple Valley, Minn., Mary Lee (Craig) Allen of Independence, Marilyn (Loren) Manderfield of St. Lucas, Shirley (Rick) Robinson of Tulsa, Okla., Carol (Karl) McVea of Mustang, Okla., Betty Foreman of San Francisco, Calif., and Duane (Kristie) Foreman of Rosemount, Minn.; 40 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Leona Croatt of St. Lucas and Rose Crogveek of Oelwein; and many other relatives.
