Wilhelmina B. Malli

Wilhelmina B. Malli, 81, of Oregon, Illinois, and formerly of Decorah and Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at the Oregon Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 15, at 11 a.m., at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, with the Rev. Gary Krapfl officiating.

Alan Sensor was the organist. Joan Schissel was the cantor.

Casket bearers were Dale, Matt and Steve Dick, Brian Zeman, Daniel, David and Jeff Dwyer and Bernard Malli.

Burial was at the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Wilhelmina (Zeien) Malli was born July 27, 1918, in Clermont, the daughter of John and Margaret (Conroy) Zeien. She attended Decorah High School.

On Feb. 27, 1938, she was married to Rene Malli at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah. He preceded her in death April 10, 1971.

Wilhelmina was a farm wife. She left Decorah in 1982 and moved to Cedar Rapids, where she lived with her daughter, Susan. She moved to Oregon, Illinois in August of 1999.

In her younger years, Wilhelmina played baseball. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons, Duane and Sylvester of Harmony, Minn., and Bernard of Oregon, IL; three daughters, Kathryn and Harry Dwyer of Chana, IL., Margaret and Richard Dick of Lodi, Wis., and Susan and Francis Zeman of Mechanicsville; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leo and Ellen Zeien of Boston, Mass., and Thomas Zeien of Decorah.

Wilhelmina Malli was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter-in-law, Bernard's wife Sharon; and 10 brothers and sisters: John, Clem, George, Earl, Ernie, Nick and Bernard Zeien, Henrietta Fischer, Kathryn Newton and Emma Kjarland.
