Harold A. Zweibohmer

Harold A. "Chuck" Zweibohmer, 68, of Decorah, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at the Aase Haugen Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m., at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, with the Rev. Gary Krapfl officiating.

Alan Sensor will be the organist. Joan Schissel will be the cantor. The congregation will sing "In the Garden", "What A Friend We Have in Jesus", "Abide With Me" and "Amazing Grace".

Casket bearers will be Kenneth Forde, James B. Grinna, John Grinna, Thomas Hoey, Arlyn N. Moe and Howard Nesheim.

Honorary bearers will be Randy Brynsaas, Nels Folkedahl, Marlin Grinna, Alanson Lillibridge, Erlin Lomen and Reuben Styve.

Burial will be at the St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery with full military rites by the Helof-Holm V.F.W. Post No. 1977 and Bernatz-Symonds American Legion Post No. 163.

Visitation will be held at the church Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Harold was born June 21, 1931, in rural Ossian, the son of Anton and Edith (Bebelt) Zweibohmer. He attended Ossian Schools.

Harold served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from Dec. 1, 1951 until April 1, 1953.

On April 15, 1965, he was married Marlis Gabrielson in LaCrosse, Wis. They renewed their vows on their 30th anniversary at St. Benedict Catholic Church.

Harold lived in Winneshiek County his whole life. Before entering the service, he worked for farmers and had a milk route in Ridgeway. He joined Vick's Heating, Plumbing & Ventilating in 1959 and had worked there ever since.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, tractor pulls and trips to Branson, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Marlis; five children and seven grandchildren, Richard and Arlene Leibold of Onalaska, Wis., Bruce and Sally Leibold and children Ben, Andy and Amanda of Decorah, Dale Leibold of Decorah, Mabel and Herman Foster and children Roberta, Wayne, Wesley and Willie of Austin, Minn., and Diane Leibold and Matt Gleisner of Geneva; three sisters, Maggie Taylor of Hibbing, Minn., Joan and Don Scherff of Fort Dodge, and Rose and Jim Alt of Victorville, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Harold Zweibohmer was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Zweibohmer.
