Michael Duane Bruening
Michael Duane Bruening, 32, of San Francisco, Calif., and formerly of Decorah, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at his home following a lengthy illness.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah, with the Rev. Gary Krapfl officiating. There is no visitation.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael's family and friends. Burial will be at the St. Benedict Cemetery. The Fjelstul Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mary Beth Bouska will be the organist. Theresa Lynch will be the soloist and the Decorah High School Madrigal Singers will also provide music.
Michael was born Sept. 29, 1966, in Decorah, the son of Duane and Eileen (Murphy) Bruening. He attended Lake Forest Academy, went one year to Hamline University and two years to New York University.
He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Decorah.
Survivors include his parents; four brothers, Dr. Frederick and Tammy Bruening of Grand Blanc, Mich., Gregory and Vickie Bruening of Decorah, Keith Bruening of Decorah and Steven Bruening of Tujunga, Calif.; and three sisters, Helen and Guy Barbier of France, Mary Rayburn of Decorah and Elizabeth and Bob Cowie of Decorah.
