Mary Ann Kleve, 62, of Decorah, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at her home after a long illness.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Decorah. The Rev. Ed Lechtenberg will be the celebrant, with the Rev. George Karnik as concelebrant.
Al Sensor will be the organist. Don DiLaura will be the soloist.
Sherry Jensen, Robin Luckett and Darla Kleve will receive offertory gifts. Jayme Jensen will be the reader.
Casket bearers will be Scott Jensen, Tony Jensen, Jim Tupy, Dan Popkins, Kevin Bodensteiner and Kerry Kleve. Honorary bearers will be her nieces and nephews.
Burials will be at the St. Benedict Cemetery. The French & Balik Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Mary Ann (Tupy) Kleve was born May 31, 1936, at Fort Atkinson, the daughter of Frank J. and Caroline (Karnik) Tupy. She graduated from the Fort Atkinson High School in 1954, at St. John's Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson.
She worked at Livingood's Supper Club, Jules Office Inn, Swede's, Corner Bar and Deco Products.
Mary and James farmed for 42 years in Frankville Township of Winneshiek County. They moved to Decorah in January of 1998.
Mary enjoyed flowers, living on the farm, driving tractor, reading and visiting with people.
Survivors include her husband, James; three daughters, Richard and Sherry Jensen of Decorah, Kirby and Robin Luckett of Iowa City, and Darla Kleve of Decorah; three grandchildren, Scott and Stephanie Jensen of Casper, Wyo., Jayme Jensen of Cedar Rapids and Tony Jensen of Casper, Wyo.; one great-grandchild, Stephen Jensen; four brothers, Norbert Tupy of Sterling, Ill., Elmer and Pauline Tupy of Charles City, Joseph and Betty Tupy of Rolling Meadows, Ill., and Paul and Phyllis Tupy of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two sisters, Ron and Donna Bodensteiner of West Union, and John and Carolyn Bodensteiner of Sun Lake, Ariz.
Mary Kleve was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter named Dina; one brother, Francis Tupy; and two sisters, Loretta and Delores Tupy.
