Adeline Estella "Ann" Flaskerud was born Nov. 21, 1918 in Decorah, the daughter of Alfred and Cora (Birdsell) Steine.
She was baptized and confirmed at Decorah Lutheran Church. She attended grade school and high school in Decorah, and then worked for various families doing housework and caring for small children.
On Nov. 2, 1941 she was united in marriage to Erick Flaskerud at the Decorah Lutheran Church with Rev. Oliver Fjelstad officiating.
On March 1, 1942, the couple started farming on the Sandager Farm one mile east of Calmar, and four years later purchased a farm between Calmar and Decorah.
While helping with farming, Ann Flaskerud worked at the Aase Haugen Home when it was located in rural Decorah.
On Oct. 1, 1968, the couple became residents of Decorah, where they have resided until the present. While living in Decorah, Ann Flaskerud was employed by the Highlander Laundromat.
A member of Calmar Lutheran Church Ann Flaskerud also taught Sunday School for several years. She was, a firm believer in the saying "All I needed to know to get along in life I learned in Kindergarten." Her love for her church and being with people were most important to her.
She was an auxiliary member of Gideons International for several years, and held an auxiliary Life Membership in the NARFE Association.
Ann Flaskerud was not one to accept praise and glory for anything she did and for the last few years, all she lived for was the love for her husband and her Lord—so when she passed away, she went peacefully, knowing both were there to support her.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Erick Flaskerud; one brother, James Steine of Decorah, and several nieces and nephews.
Adeline Estella "Ann" Flaskerud was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Cora Steine, and five brothers, Arnold, Norman, Charles, Richard and Donald Steine.
