Margaret D. Losen

Margaret D. Losen, 75, of Decorah, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at her home, of congestive heart failure after a lengthy illness.

Connie Bolson will be the organist.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, at. 11 a.m., at Congregational United Church of Christ in Decorah, with the Rev. David O'Rourke officiating.

There is no visitation. The body was cremated.

Burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. The Fjelstul Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Margaret (Janson) Losen was born Oct. 30, 1924, in Decorah, the daughter of Wilhelm (Bill) and Mildred (Darling) Janson.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational United Church of Christ. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1942 and then attended Luther College.

Margaret was married to Philip H. Losen Dec. 12, 1945, in Hutchinson, Kan.

After returning to Decorah, Margaret worked for Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum as a bookkeeper for over 20 years. Upon retirement in 1993, she enjoyed the company of her family and her dogs.

Survivors include three children, Robin and Albert Shirocky, Jr. of Dickerson Run, Pa., Noel and Connie Losen of Richmond, Va., and Holly Losen of Decorah; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, William and Maxine Losen of Hazleton.

Margaret Losen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Philip, who died June 24, 1963; and one grandson, Philip Kristian O'Hern in 1974.
