Henrietta Marguerite Moe

Henrietta Moe, 94, of Decorah, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services were held Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m., at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, with the Rev. Steven Jacobsen officiating.

The Rev. Marion Miller was the organist. Soloist Marilyn Larson sang "In the Garden." The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have in Jesus."

A private family burial was held Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Henrietta Marguerite (Dahly) Moe was born Sept. 27, 1905, at Cresco, the daughter of Charles Lewis and Josie (Fuller) Dahly.

She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. She attended the original, old West Side School during her grade school years. She graduated from Decorah High School. After high school, Henrietta taught in a country school north of Decorah. Then she worked for Dayton's in Minneapolis. Later, in Decorah, she worked at McNeil's Coat & Suit Store, and then at Decorah Electric Co. After marriage, she was a homemaker.

Henrietta was married to Valdorf T. Moe Dec. 16, 1933, at First Lutheran Church, by the Rev. T. A. Hoff.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, where she was quite active. She was a choir member, Sunday School teacher and a circle member.

Henrietta also was a member of Luther College Women's Club, a charter member of Travel Club, and a charter member of West Side Garden Club.
She liked flowers and had an appreciation for music.

Henrietta lived in her own home for 66 years. Recently, she had made her home at Green Lea Manor in Mabel, Minn.

Survivors include one daughter, Marietta and Charles Dennstedt of Harmony, Minn.; one son, John and Laura Moe of Frenchtown, N.J.; five grandchildren, Jan-Catherine (Tim) Fisher of Frenchtown, N.J., Christopher (Anne Marie) Moe of Brodheadsville, Pa., John (Kim) Dennstedt of Burnsville, Minn., Thomas Dennstedt of Albert Lea, Minn., and Martha Dennstedt of Naperville, IL; five greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Eiden of Nisswa, Minn.

Henrietta Moe was preceded in death by her parents; her, husband, Valdorf, who died Oct. 5, 1991; two sisters, Dorothy Skarshaug and Kathryn Hutchinson; and four brothers, Joseph, Gerald, Donald and Robert Dahly.
