John H. Witt

John H. Witt, Jr., 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at
St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, after a short illness.

A gathering of family and friends was held Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion from 2-4 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.

John was born Nov. 2, 1922, the son of John Sr. and Nellie (Thornton) Witt in Ossian. On Feb. 14, 1964, he was married to Frances Lee Whetstine.

John was a printer pressman with Pepco Litho and retired from Service
Press.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; a daughter, Jodi and Tracy Carney of Cedar Rapids; a son, Ronald Witt of Cedar Rapids, two brothers, Martin Jennings of Springville and Ray Witt of La Crosse, Wis.; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Danielle, Mallissa and Dakota.

John Witt, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey (Charlotte) Schave of Janesville, Wisconsin and Darlene Haugen; three step-brothers; and a step-sister.
