Lillian Dolphin
Lillian (Rokos) Dolphin, 85, died Feb. 1, 2000, at the nursing home in Britt from complications of pancreatic cancer.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt. The Rev. Marvin Bries celebrated the Mass of Christian Burial.
Sister Jan Hrubes was the lector and the communion minister. Organist Brenda Smith accompanied the soloist, Louise Zrostlik, in the song selections.
The casket bearers were Donald Hrubes, Wayne Kudej, Dale Dolphin, Dean Dolphin, Roger Bird and Micah Heimdal. Dennis Brumm and Allan Doughan were the ushers.
Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. The services were under the direction of the Ewing Funeral Chapel.
Lillian (Rokos) Dolphin was born Aug. 8, 1914, in Garfield Township, near Duncan, the daughter of James and Mary (Formanek) Rokos. She graduated from Hayfield Schools in 1933.
On June 4, 1935, she was married to John Dolphin at St. Wenceslaus Church in Duncan. They became the parents of one daughter, Marlene. They lived near Britt in Erin Township, where they farmed until 1952. They moved to Britt, where Lillian worked as a dietary supervisor at the Hancock County Hospital for 27 years.
She was a member of the Jolly Circle Club, a charter member of Tops and served as a volunteer at the West View Care Center. She was a happy and giving person, who enjoyed traveling and her family and friends. Lillian had relatives and friends in the Spillville, Protivin and Fort Atkinson areas.
Survivors include her daughter, Marlene and Alvin Holtorf; grandchildren, Rick Hartman (Billie), Melinda Hartman, Julie Jessen (Keith), Timothy Holtorf (Amy) and James Holtorf; great-grandchildren Micah, Matthew, Mandy, Kelli, Kassi and Katie; and two sisters, Alice and Frank Hrubes, and Gladys and Robert Kudej.
Lillian Dolphin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, who died in 1988; her grandparents Joe and Anna (Landa) Formanek; her uncles and aunts, Ida (and Wesley) Zeman, Agnes (Sweet) Zeman, Estella (and John) Falada, Bessie (and Peter) Falada, Christina, Jessie and Josphine Formanek, Anna (and Louis) Schmitt, Frank and Agnes (Falada) Formanek, and Joseph and Margaret (Jakoubek) Formanek.
