Frances Herold

Frances Herold, 79, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at the Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Worship Center in Cresco with the Rev. Michael Tauke officiating.

Suzanne Ollendick was the organist and Joe Wacha led the congregation in song. Gifts were presented by Carrie Stapelkamp, Barb Helgeson, Heather Herold and Kathy Froemming. Readers were Terry Duerre and Pat Gosch.

Casket bearers were Mike, Pat and Tim Herold, Bill Gosch, Andy Duerre and David Gosch. Honorary bearers were Matt and Dan Duerre, Joe Gosch, Wayne Herold II, and Ryan and Brett Herold.

Frances Catherine (Bohr) Herold was born March 10, 1920, at Ossian, the daughter of Henry and Nettie (Zweibohmer) Bohr. She attended the St. Francis de Sales School in Ossian and returned home to help with the family on the farm.

On June 27, 1938, she was united in marriage to Orvald F. Herold at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. They moved to Cresco to make their home and live there for almost 62 years.

Fran was a member of St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Altar Society and Rosary Society, and was a charter member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
She was employed as a clerk for various businesses prior to her retirement. Frances was an avid sewer and did a lot of crafting.

Survivors include her husband, Orvald; six children; Ron and Paula Herold of White Bear Lake, Minn., Wayne and Dee Herold of North Platte, Neb., Pat and John Gosch of Cresco, Steve and Beth Herold of Paradise Valley, Ariz., Tom and Renell Herold of Marengo, and Terry and Steve Duerre of Cresco; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Holien of Winona, Minn.

Frances Herold was preceded in death by two sisters, Sister Doris Bohr, O.S.F., and an infant sister; and eight brothers, Anthony, Edward, Hubert, Fred, Frank, Henry, Alphonse and Andrew Bohr.
