Nina Folkedahl

Nina M. Folkedahl, 90, of Mabel, Minn., died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 16, at 11 a.m., at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper, with the Rev. Hans Floan officiating.

Burial will be at the Hesper Public Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Thursday.

Nina (Nelson) Folkedahl was born May 15, 1909, in Highland Township of Winneshiek County, the daughter of Nels and Flora (Darrington) Nelson. She attended the Grindeland School near Hesper.

On Nov. 25, 1931, she married Andrew Folkedahl in Decorah. The couple lived in the Mabel and Hesper areas their entire lives.

Andrew died Feb. 8, 1991. Nina had been a resident at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home since 1998. She was a member of the Hesper Lutheran Church and enjoyed flowers and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Forrest of Hesper and Nanford "Buck" of Marengo; three daughters, Mavis Rilling of Hesper, Odis (Mrs. John) Fossum of Mount Vernon and Lola (Mrs. Robin) Foltz of Hesper; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Nina Folkedahl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew; a son, Gene; a grandson, Troy; five brothers and five sisters.
