Donald R. Stoskopf
Donald R. Stoskopf, 76, of Decorah, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah after a long illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 11 a.m., at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Andreae officiating.
Alan Sensor was the organist. Soloist Susan Nelson sang "In the Garden." Congregational hymns were "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Pat Ryan, Ron Stoskopf, Richard Anderson, Curtiss Lippe, Richard Lippe and Darrel Stoskopf.
Interment was at the Locust Cemetery, rural Decorah. Arrangements were handled by the French and Balik Funeral Home.
Donald was born Aug. 8, 1924, in Pleasant Township, Winneshiek County, rural Decorah, to Harry and Elsie (Denning) Stoskopf. He attended country schools and had operated the family farm north of Decorah for many years.
Donald married Joy Hansen July 10, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Locust. He enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture.
Survivors include four children, Mark and Mary Stoskopf of Wilton, David Stoskopf and fiancee Janna Mausolf of Decorah, Karen and Tom Klotzbach of Decorah, and Paula Stoskopf of Decorah; and four grandchildren, Amber, Sarah and Brian Stoskopf and Hannah Klotzbach.
Donald Stoskopf was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joy, who died in 1986; and one brother, Erlin Stoskopf.
