Helen Marie Juen
Helen Juen, 69, of rural Ossian, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at her home of a sudden illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Sept. 16, at 11 a.m., at the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian with the Rev. Vincent Simon officiating.
Diane Stee was the organist. James Hawkins was the song leader. Hymns were "Eye Has Not Seen," "How Great Thou Art," "On Eagles Wings" and "Here I Am Lord."
Casket bearers were Paul Lis, Virgil Birdsell, Clark Gerleman, Brad Mihm, Norman Daniels and Roger Gerleman.
Interment was at the St. Francis de Sales Cemetery. The Ossian Funeral Chapel handled arrangements.
Helen Marie (Gerleman) Juen was born July 27, 1931, on the rural Ossian farm of her parents, Albert and Catherine (Zweibohmer) Gerleman. She attended rural school.
On July 16, 1957, Helen was married to William Juen at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. To this union three children were born, Molly, John and Ann.
Helen farmed with her husband and liked to quilt, sew and garden. Also, she enjoyed cooking and baking for family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, John Juen of Elgin; two daughters, Molly and Dennis Dolezal of Cedar Rapids, and Ann and Michael Buddenberg of Castalia; four grandchildren, Matthew and Justin Dolezal and Dereck and Lindsey Buddenberg; one brother, Ronald Gerleman of Odessa, Texas; and two sisters, Marcie Daniels of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mary Geers of Cedar Rapids.
Helen Juen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William, who died July 15, 1973; one brother, Lawrence; and two sisters, Doris and Lois Gerleman.
