Hazel Anderson
Hazel Anderson, 88, of Decorah, died Saturday, March 17, 2001 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Fjelstul Funeral Home.
Organist was Kathy Murray, and song selections were "Beautiful Savior," "Amazing Grace" and "Abide With Me."
Pallbearers were Justin Tangen, Jason Lemke, Gordon Tangen, Marc Tangen, Lee Tangen, Butch Tangen, Steve Anderson and James Anderson.
Burial was at Lutheran Cemetery, with Pastor James Glesne officiating.
Hazel Goetsch was born May 23, 1912 in Dexter, Minn., to Sam and Hannah Goetsch. On Dec. 16, 1930 she married Juel M. Anderson in Waverly, and they had three children: Gordon, Beverly and Robert.
Hazel Anderson worked in many restaurants and at K & S and she and her husband spent a lot of time fishing.
She was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church. After her husband passed away in 1968, she spent much of her time helping with her grandchildren, later moving to Oneota Homes, until her health failed. She then went to live at the Aase Haugen Home, where she lived one year until her death.
Survivors include her three children, Gordon Anderson, Beverly and Merlin Tangen and Robert and Lona Anderson, all of Decorah; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters: Pearl Goetsch of Decorah; Lillian Hallahan of Decorah and Elnora Barthelme of Ossian.
Hazel Anderson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers Jesse and David Goetsch and two sisters, Ruby and Mayme.
