Palma Teslow
Palma Teslow, 80, of Forest City, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, at home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 1:30 p.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City. The Rev. Lee Laaveg officiated.
Leonard Markusen was the organist. Margie Markusen was soloist on "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "Softly and Tenderly." The congregation sang "Beautiful Savior" and "Thine Is The Glory."
Interment was in the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah on Thursday, Sept. 9. Petersen Lund Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Palma Kolseth Teslow was born March 8, 1919, in Decorah, the daughter of Helmer E. and Nora M. (Soriede) Kolseth. She graduated from high school in Waukon and attended Waukon Junior College.
She taught school in the elementary grades and junior high for five years.
On June 20, 1940, she married Mel H. Teslow at St. John's Lutheran Church in Decorah.Palma was an active member of the church, teaching Bible school and Sunday school. She was a Girl Scout leader and served as Legion Auxiliary President while in Decorah.
After moving to Forest City, Palma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, liked to golf and go fishing, and traveled extensively with Mel.
Since retiring, the couple enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Mesa, Ariz.
Survivors include one daughter, Pam and Bruce Bell of Littleton, Co.; and
two sisters-in-law, Alberta Teslow of Decorah; and Stella Heggen of Independence.Palma Teslow was preceded in death by her parents and her husband who died in 1995.
