Gretchen Wendelin

Gretchen Wendelin, 70, of LaCrosse, Wise., died Friday, Sept. 3, at the Hillview Health Care Center.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m., at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home in LaCrosse. Rev. Donald Iliff, of Wesley United Methodist Church, officiated.

Entombment was in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Woodlawn Cemetery, LaCrosse, Wise., on Tuesday, Sept. 7. Dickinson Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Gretchen Wendelin was born March 20, 1929, in Decorah, the daughter of Martin and Grace (Anderson) Williams.

Gretchen had been employed in the housekeeping department of Lutheran Hospital for many years prior to her retirement.

She loved birds and the rest of the backyard critters that she would feed and
nurture. She really enjoyed the crowd at Schmidty's, even "Norb" and especially Arlene, who had been so kind to her.

Gretchen is survived by her husband, Arnold; one daughter, Linda and Bruce Chandler of Holmen, Wis.; one son, David and Jo Leuenberger of LaCrosse, Wis.; one brother, Merlin and Joyce Williams of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Michelle Foltz; Randy Koshatka; Jason and Christine Leuenberger; Ben Leuenberger; Elsa Chandler; and Bruce Chandler, Jr.; and several
great grandchildren.

Also surviving are one step-daughter, Ellen and Ed Roller of Las Vegas, Nev.; and two step-sons, Robert and Denise Wendelin and Douglas Wendelin, both of Las Vegas, Nev.

Gretchen Wendelin was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Ruppel.
