Jack Don Mease

Jack Mease, 73, of Winterset, died Saturday, Sept. 4, at home from a heart ailment.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 10:30 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Winterset. The Rev. Robert Barrick officiated.

Meredith Young Easter was the organist. Vocalist was Jane Martens.

Interment was in the Winterset Cemetery. The Collins Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Jack Don Mease was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Madison County, Iowa, the son of Grover C. and Ethel (Emerson) Mease. He was a 1943 graduate of Winterset High School.

On Dec. 4, 1945, he married Margaret Steddom in Winterset. They had three sons.

Jack was a retired insurance agent and manager of Farmers Mutual Insurance Association & Mease Insurance.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club; a Board Member of Madison County Historical Society, also serving as treasurer for many years; a member of the Board of Trustees of Winterset Library; a retired member of the Board of Directors of IMT Insurance Company, a member of First United Methodist Church in Winterset, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of Winterset; and two sons, Jerry R. and Vicki Mease of Winterset, and Daniel K. and Kristi Mease of Decorah. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Kevin and Wendy Mease, Jennifer and Christopher Hannon, Jeffrey Mease, Jason Mease, and Kelsey Mease.

Jack Mease was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David M. Mease; one brother, G. Willard Mease; and two sisters, Lois Eve Welch; and Thelma Colvin.
