Kathryn Ellen Kalsow
Kathryn Ellen Kalsow, 60, of Decorah, was found dead in her home Monday, Oct. 4, 1999.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joan Mau officiating. Diane Kvamme was the organist. David Judisch sang "Den Store Hvide Flok." The congregation sang
"Beautiful Savior," "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "Lead On, 0 King Eternal."Casket bearers were Kenneth Bjerke, David Ellis, William Kalsow, Russell Peterson, Joseph Sheridan and William J. Wagner. Honorary bearers were Loretta Bachelder, Orene Docken, Gloria Hove, Syvilla Bolson, Betty Drew and Eunice Swiggum.
Burial was at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. The Fjelstul Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Kathryn Kalsow was born Dec. 31, 1938, at Stevens Point, Wis., the daughter of Wilbert 0. and Vivian F. (Peterson) Kalsow.
She had lived in Decorah since October of 1949, where her family moved from Stevens Point. Kathryn graduated from Decorah High School and Luther College.
She joined the library staff at Luther College after graduation from the school. She continued to work there until 1997.
Kathryn shared her enjoyment of books, dolls and political buttons with friends and colleagues. At Christmas and Nordic Fest, she could be found demonstrating Klostersom. She faithfully attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed musical events at Luther College. She will be remembered for her kindness and determination.
Survivors include two brothers, Waldo Kalsow of West Salem, Wis., and Wendall Kalsow of Lexington, Wis.; and two sisters, Arlene Ellis of Davis, Calif., and Charlotte Thompson of Madison, Wis.
Kathryn Kalsow was preceded in death by her parents.
