Linus Bohr

Linus Bohr, 67, of Cresco, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Joseph's Worship Center in Cresco, with the Rev. Michael Tauke presiding.

Reader was Debbie Storlie. Gifts were offered by Stephen, Dan and Leon Bohr. Eucharistic ministers were Ruth Langreck and Judy Bohr.

Casket bearers were Brian Bohr, David Engelhardt, Dennis Bohr, Craig Bohr, George Smith and David Lechtenberg. Honorary bearers were Roger Kleve and Bill Kruse.

Burial was at the Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. The Conway Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Linus William Bohr was born Feb. 26, 1932, near Ossian in Winneshiek County, the son of Anton and Mathilda (Hageman) Bohr.

After he received his education at the St. Francis de Sales School in Ossian, he returned home to help the family on the farm.

On Jan. 29, 1952, Linus entered the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged Jan. 13, 1954, and returned home to work on the farm.

On Sept. 28, 1954, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Gossman at St.
Bridget's Catholic Church of Bluffton. After farming for several years, he worked as a bricklayer. He started the business of L & S Masonry in 1974, retiring in 1994.

Linus will be remembered as a hard worker with a strong work ethic. He
was witty and had a good head for figures and names, remembering almost everyone he met.

He liked to play cards and scrabble, watch college football, garden, visit with family and friends, and looked forward to his grandchildren coming for a visit.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; his children, Stephen and Judy Bohr of Cresco, Marjorie and Jim Ridd of Rochester, Minn., Carol and Scott Fiegel of Apple Valley, Minn., Norma Engelhardt of Cresco, Dan and Wendy Bohr of Cresco, Leon and Lonnie Bohr of Decorah, and Colleen and Matthew Shannon, of Marion; 17 grandchildren, Ann Retterath, Lisa Johnson, Brian, Michelle and Whitney, Jennifer and Emily Kidd, Erin Fiegel, David and Katie Engelhardt, Vanessa, Kathleen and Candice Bohr, Megan and Lindsey Bohr, and Abby and Lucas Shannon; two great grandchildren, Colin Retterath and Hailey Johnson.

Survivors also include three sisters, Viola Bohr of Waterloo, Arlene Bohr of Darien, IL., and Jeanne Hageman of Ossian; and three brothers, Wilfred of Ridgeway, Gerald of Cedar Rapids and Duane of Sylvania, Ga.

Linus Bohr was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Kevin.
