Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 31, 1:30 p.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia, for Steve Szabo, who died at his home on March 27 following an illness of several years. The Rev. Walter Pfeffer officiated. Burial was in Bloomfield cemetery at Castalia.

Steve Szabo was born December 22, 1890 in Budapest, Hungary. He was married to Laura Reisner of West Union on February 27, 1921. He was a salvage dealer in Castalia during his life time.

He was preceded in death by one son, Theodore. Survivors include his widow; 11 children, Victor, William, Robert, Eugene and Darlene (Mrs. LaVerne Schultz), all of Castalia, Edward of Frankville, Agnes (Mrs. Earl Smith), of San Bernardino, California, Marilyn (Mrs. Duane Wander), of Riverside, California, Dayle of Cedar Rapids, Leon in the service in Georgia, and Dianne (Mrs. Robert Meyer, Jr.), of Postville, and 24 grandchildren.
