Bessie Stoskopf
Bessie Stoskopf, 89, of Decorah, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 21, at 11 a.m., at the Decorah Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Glesne officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 20, at the Fjelstul Funeral Home, from 5-8 p.m., and Friday after 10 a.m. at the church.
Casket bearers will be Doug D'Aigle, Dennis Juve, Tim Knudson, Wayne
Leidahl, Wayne Schweinefus, Darrel Stoskopf, Vemon Stoskopf and Larry Thompson.Honorary bearers will be Garrett D'Aigle, Jason Stoskopf, Justin Stoskopf, Virgil Stoskopf and Vincent Thorson.
Burial will be at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah. The Fjelstul Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Bessie (Foltz) Stoskopf was born March 5, 1910, in Canoe Township of Winneshiek County, at the home of her parents, Will and Emma (Larson) Foltz. She attended the rural schools of Winneshiek County.
Bessie was married to Vernon Stoskopf Jan. 28, 1928, in Canoe Township.
She and Vemon farmed in Pleasant Township for many years. Bessie then moved to Decorah where she worked as a nurse's aid at the Aase Haugen Home until her retirement.Bessie was a member of Decorah Lutheran Church and its circles. She had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon since September of 1998.
Her greatest joy was her family, her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening and her flowers.
Survivors include one daughter and three sons, Verl and Frances Stoskopf, Paul and Beverly Stoskopf , Ronald and Marcia Stoskopf, all of Decorah and Jacquelyn and William Grayburn of Onalaska, Wis.; 10 grandchildren, Vicki Thorson, Sherry, Darrel, Laurie, Vernon, Virgil, Jason and Justin Stoskopf, Jennifer Knudson and Michelle D'Aigle; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth Foltz of Decorah and Vera Stortz of Waukon.
Bessie Stoskopf was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon, who died June 30, 1960; four brothers, Wellington, Garnavillo, Morgan and Gerald Foltz; and one grandson, Brent Stoskopf.
