Margaret E. Emery, 87, of Mabel, Minn., died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at 10:30 a.m., at Burr Oak Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Hans Floan officiating.
Burial was at the Burr Oak Cemetery. The Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel handled arrangements.
Margaret (Falck) Emery was born Dec. 21, 1912, in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County, the daughter of Philip and Maggie (Soeder) Falck. She attended country school and graduated from Decorah High School.
On Sept. 3, 1932, she was married to Thomas Emery in Waterloo. They farmed their entire lives in the Winneshiek County, Iowa and Fillmore County, Minnesota areas.
Thomas died Nov. 22, 1981, and Margaret remained on the farm until August of 1995, when she became a member of the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
She was a lifetime member of Burr Oak Lutheran Church. The people who knew her saw her as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Also, she was seen as a person who built her life around her family and was self-sufficient with a streak of independence.
Survivors include three sons, Loren Emery of Mabel, Minn., Gary and Judy Emery of Mabel, Minn; and Tom and Ann Emery of Caledonia, Minn.; one daughter, Arlene and Dean Austin of Mabel, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Margaret Emery was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
