Ethel Elizabeth Louise Lampman, daughter of Fred and Mary (Stopperman) Bareis, was born Oct. 6, 1910 at Castalia, Iowa She died Friday, April 15, 1994 in Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Iowa. She was 83.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia. She graduated from Postville High School in 1929. On Dec. 30, 1951 she married to Lafe Alonzo Lampman in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, the Rev. L. R. Meinecke officiating. The couple lived in Castalia until 1960, when they moved to Postville. Ethel became a resident of Makee Manor in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lafe, in 1988; a brother, John W. Bareis, who died in infancy; and two brothers, Leonard Bareis and Albert Bareis and his wife Hazel.
Surviving are two stepsons, Richard Lampman of Wichita, Kan. and Vern (Chris) Lampman of Tacoma, Wash.; 10 step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; two nephews, Kenneth Bareis of Fayetteville, N. C., and Richard Bareis of New York City.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 18, 1994 at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville, Iowa, the Rev. R. Michael Brown officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia, Iowa.
