Funeral services for Lafe Lampman were held Friday, Dec. 30, 1988 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated.

Lafe Alonzo Lampman, son of Richard Henry and Louisa Elizabeth (Tice) Lampman, was born Sept. 5, 1897 in Concord Township, Hancock County, Iowa. He died Sunday, Dec. 25 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.

He attended the rural schools near his home. Lafe was married to Maxine Loomen at Rockford, IL. The couple had one son, Richard.

On May 9, 1931, he married Ellen Taylor at Lake Villa, IL. They had one son, Vern. In 1946 Lafe purchased the Baltz Garage in Castalia. He was married to Ethel Bareis and they farmed north of Castalia for several years. In 1960 they moved to Postville and purchased their present Home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Earl Lampman and a sister, Blanch Spavin.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel, 2 sons, Richard (Barbara) Lampman of Wichita, KS and Vern (Chris) Lampman of Tacoma, WA; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, a brother, Pat Lampman, Sacramento, CA and a half-brother, Clarence Lavelle, Bellevue, WA.

Lafe served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a life-long member of the VFW.
