Funeral services were conducted from St. Francis de Sales Church, Ossian, Monday, October 23 at 11:00 a.m. for Leo Floody. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. V. J. Peters officiated. Mr. Floody died at Postville Community Memorial Hospital Friday, October 20. He had been in ill health for several years.
Leo 'Pat' Henry Floody, son of Henry and Bridget Byrne Floody, was born September 13, 1906 on a farm south of Castalia. He attended St. Francis de Sales grade school, the Castalia school and Postville high school. He was inducted into the army in 1942 at Scott Field, Illinois, receiving training at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, and Camp Claiborne, Louisiana. He was stationed at Skagway, Alaska, with the Railroad Battalion. He returned to the United States in December, 1944. Mr. Floody did construction work from 1944 until 1959 at Peoria, Illinois, when he retired to Castalia.
Mr. Floody was preceded in death by his father in 1925, his mother in 1946; two brothers, James M. Floody in 1960 and Edward F. Floody in 1969.
Surviving are a sister Mary Floody of Castalia and four nieces.
He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Military rites were conducted by American Legion Post 502 of Ossian at the graveside. Burial was in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery.
