Funeral services for Ted Feickert were held Monday, April 15, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church at Decorah, Iowa. The Reverend Kim Smith officiated. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Terry Henry, Rick Nelson, Stephanie Moore, Treva Menke, Scott Feickert, Brad Feickert, Tony Perez, Travis Feickert, Bryce Koenig, and Honorary Casketbearers were the grandchildren.
Theodore "Ted" Feickert, the son of Jacob A. Feickert and Selma Selzle Feickert, was born November 19, 1915, at Forbes, North Dakota. He passed away Thursday, April 11, 2002, in the Gundersen-Lutheran Health Center at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 86 years, four months, and 12 days.
He was baptized December 15, 1915 and confirmed June 22, 1930 in North Dakota. He attended the Dickie County School in Forbes, North Dakota.
On October 1, 1940 Ted was married to Irene E. Meyer in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. To this union nine children were born.
Ted had moved to northeast Iowa in the 1930s. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the area until 1969. Ted was then employed by Reilly Construction Company until he became ill in 1984. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting, and especially liked to work in his flower garden. He also liked to play cards with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Emil Feickert, Theophill Feickert, George Feickert, Herbert Feickert, and Arthur Feickert, two sisters, Clara Quaschnick and Emma Hess, and two sons-in-law, James Perez and William Kelley.
Surviving are his wife Irene of Frankville; nine children, 24 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and one brother.
They are: daughter Norma (Wayne) Hemry of Ossian, Iowa and their children, Terry (Kelly) Hemry, Stacy (Joe) Kressin, Brenda (Jim) Fishback, Rodney (Leslie) Hemry; daughter Joyce (Milton) Nelson and their children, Ricky (Kelly) Nelson, Kent (Jackie) Nelson, Brian (Robbin) Nelson, Chad (Jenny) Nelson, Jason (Canna) Nelson; daughter Judy (Michael) Moore of Buffalo City, Wisconsin and their children, Stephanie and Michael Moore; son Lloyd (Marsha) Feickert of Marion, IA and their children, Treva (Keith) Menke, Trisha Feickert; son DuWayne (Judy) Feickert of Postville and their children, Scott (Beth) Feickert, Timothy (Donna) Feickert, Brent Feickert; son Allen (Susan) Feickert of Marion, IA and their children, Wade and Bradley Feickert; daughter, Vicky Kelley of Brooklyn, IA and her children, Tony (Jennifer) Perez and Trevor Perez; son Jeffrey (Sharon) Feickert of Frankville, IA and their children, Travis and Trevor Feickert; daughter, Rhonda (Doug) Koenig of Frankville, IA and their children, Kari and Bryce Koenig; 31 great grandchildren: Taylor, Bryanna, Logan, and Andrew Hemry; Mandy and Cory Monroe; Randal, Shawn and, Derek Schultz; Alanda Fishback; Tyler, Leah and Hannah Hemry; Jessica (James) Jacobs, Natasha, Dalton, Derek, Aaron, Austin, Wyatt, Braden and Taylor Nelson; Seth, Jessica, Carter, Dakota and Cole Feickert; Keegan and Kylie Perez; Alejandro and Alisia Koenig; 2 great-great grandchildren: Samantha and McKenzie Jacobs; a brother Wilbert (Lois) Feickert of Cedar Rapids, IA, and many nieces and nephews.
Ted was a member of the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.
