Services for Maxine Mae Kruse were conducted by Rev. Susan Weier at United Methodist Church, Hawkeye, Wednesday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery, Ossian, and casket bearers were Duwayne, Duwane, Ronald, David, Rodney, and Stewart Moore.
Honorary bearers were Lee Wilke and Arnold Shedd. Arrangements were handled by Becker-Milnes Funeral Service.Maxine, the daughter of Charles and Nellie Howell Snyder, was born March 15, 1923, at rural West Union. She received her education in rural schools in the West Union area.
In 1937, she was united in marriage with Max Moore in Winneshiek County, and to this union were born five children, Max, Robert, David, Pearl and Ruby. Max died June 6, 1949. On Aug. 20, 1951, she was united in marriage with Theodore Kruse at Lucerne, Mo., and to this union were born four children, Ted, Jr., Arnold, Mae and Linda.
Her death occurred May 6 at her residence in Hawkeye. She was 67 years old and a member of United Methodist Church, Hawkeye.
In addition to her husbands, Max and Theodore, she was preceded in death by her father, one daughter, Ruby Moore; a son, Arnold [Kruse] and one brother, John Snyder.
She is survived by four sons, Max Moore and David Moore of Oelwein; Robert Moore of Denver, Colo.; Ted Kruse, Jr. of Readlyn; three daughters, Pearl Barker of Oelwein; Mae Schmitt of Jackson Junction, and Linda Alber of Hampton; 28 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lester Snyder of rural Castalia, IA; Charles Snyder of Alpha and Hank Snyder of Independence and one sister, Bernice Kelly of Sumner.
