Upton S. Peck

Funeral services for Upton S. Peck were Saturday, May 27 at 2 p.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville. The Rev. Terrance Hennesy officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Frankville Cemetery.

Upton S. Peck, son of Dan and Alice Maud (VanWey) Peck, was born January 3, 1920, on a farm near Frankville. He died Wednesday morning, May 24 at his home north of Postville.

May 22, 1940 he married Goldie Barrett at Decorah. They had 7 children. He had been employed by the Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative for 35 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Halvor Myren, a brother, Roland Peck and 2 stepbrothers, Hartley and Howard Myren, who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie, 3 sons, Harold and wife, Dona of Postville, Larry and his wife, Julie of Waterloo, and Morvin (sic) and his wife, Chris, of Waterloo, 4 daughters, Margie and her husband, E. B. Kunkle, of Oelwein, Alice and her husband, Sid Harberts, of Waterloo, Sheryl and her husband Lawrence Schulte, of Denver, IA and Lori Peck of Postville, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Allen of Frankville.

Upton was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and presently serving on its Session, a member of the Brotherly Love Lodge No. 204 of Postville, and the Supreme Council Scottish Rite of Freemasonry.

Casket bearers were Verdon Swenson, Douglas Anderson, Frank Roedl, Rev. Dick F. Harberts, Raymond Spinner and Norman Schultz.
