OBITUARY

MRS. J.P. NESVIK

Christina Eide, born in Winneshiek county, Iowa, November 12, 1864, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Eide. May 28, 1887, she was united in marriage with Mr. J.P. Nesvik. To this union were born eight children: Melvin, deceased; Adolph of Fayette county; Clara, the wife of H.T. Hanson of Fayette county; Bernard, in the army service of the United States, probably in France; Clarence; Melvina; Melvin and Leonard.

The first part of April Mr. and Mrs. Nesvik traveled to Camp Dodge to visit their son, Bernard, who is in the service of the United States army. Finding that he had gone to Washington, they returned home and later went to Washington, D.C., arriving there April 5th, and enjoyed several days' visit with Bernard. April 7th, they left Washington, arrived in Chicago the following day, and visited there with Mr. Nesvik's cousin, Rev. M.L. Nesvik. Leaving Chicago the 9th they arrived home at 9:45 A.M. on Wednesday, April 10th. On the afternoon of the 10th, Mr. and Mrs. Nesvik paid their son Adolph and their daughter, Mrs. H.T. Hanson, of Fayette county, a visit, being anxious to tell them of their visit to Bernard. Leaving their son and daughter late that evening they arrived home and retired, Mrs. Nesvik enjoying her usual good health. Thursday morning, April 11, she complained of feeling ill. Medical aid was immediately summoned and everything within the power of man was done to relieve her. On Saturday noon, April 13th, she was operated on and 8:30 the same evening she passed away, death being due to obstruction of the bowels.

In the death of Mrs. Nesvik the uncertainty of human life was demonstrated. It was a sad blow to her loved ones and cast a shadow over the whole community. She is gone from the sight of those whom she loved, but because life and love are stronger than death she is theirs still. She is still the mother of her children, upon whom she doted with such clinging fondness, and the companion still of him who mourns earth's greatest loss.

Funeral services were held April 17th, at the Stavanger church, Rev. Kvamme officiating. The pallbearers were: Theo. Enga, K. Moen, L.H. Hagelie, B. Nesvik, Peter Wolf, Andrew Knutson. Interment was made in Stavanger cemetery.

Aside from her children she is survived by her mother, Mrs. S. Eide, who makes her home at the J.P. Nesvik home; two brothers: G.S. Eide, Ossian; and Chris Eide, Willow Lake, So. Dak.; three sisters: Mrs. J.K. Saboe, Willow Lake, So. Dak.; Mrs. M.J. Wolfs, and Mrs. Gilbert Gullickson, Forest City; and one grandchild: Adolphia Nesvik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Nesvik

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. J.K. Saboe, Chris. Eide, Willow Lake, S.D.; Mrs. M.J. Wolfs, Mrs. Gilbert Gullikson, Forest City; J.O. Johnson, Story City.
