MELVIN NESVIK VICTIM OF DOUBLE PNEUMONI; ILL ONLY A FEW DAYS

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD IN THE STAVANGER LUTHERAN CHURCH; REV. KVAMME OFFICIATED

Melvin Z. Nesvik, 36, unmarried, died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steen Johnson here Sunday, April 12, 1936, after an illness of only a few days. He made his home with his brother, Adolph, and during the winter contracted a severe cold, from which he never fully recovered, finally developing into double pneumonia which caused his death.

Funeral services were held from the Stavanger Lutheran church, Wednesday, April 15, with Rev. Kr. Kvamme, pastor, and Rev. L.L. Nesvig of Stoughton, Wis., officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. The pallbearers were all cousins of the deceased: Clarence Saboe, Obert Ihde, Elmer Sorenson, Clarence Nesvik, Myran Ihde, and Albert Nesvik.*(see notes)

Melvin Z. Nesvik was born October 2, 1900, the son of John P. and Christina Nesvik. Both parents are deceased, the father passing away in 1926 and the mother in 1918. He was widely known in this community and favorably regarded by his acquaintances.

He is survived by four brothers: Adolph, Castalia; Clarence, Elgin; Berner, Ossian; Leonard, Kansas City, Mo., and two sisters: Mrs. Tom Hanson, Elgin; Mrs. Werner Meyer, Ossian. One brother, Melven, preceded him in death.

The deceased was reared amid surroundings of a well-to-do home and received all the advantages it had to offer. He completed his education in the local schools.

His body was removed from the Johnson home to the home of his brother, Berner, from where it was taken to the Stavanger Lutheran church.

*Notes: "Ihde" is usually spelled "Eide" by this family. Also, pallbearer Clarence Nesvik is possibly a brother, not a cousin. All spellings are exactly as printed. This if from an original newspaper clipping-no name of the paper or date, but presumedly it is from the Ossian paper.
