CLINTON ROBERT SCHNUELLE
Funeral services for Clinton Schnuelle were held Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, Iowa. The Reverend Dave L. Lenth officiated. Special music was provided by Marlys Hager, organist and Don Dilaura, soloist. Casket Bearers were: Danny, Ricky, Greg, Peter and Doug Schnuelle, Doug Koopman, Jeremy Hansmeier. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery with Military Honors.
Clinton Robert Schnuelle, the son of Fritz August Schnuelle and Irene Delores (nee Dahlstrom) Schnuelle, was born November 17, 1946, on the family farm in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa. He passed away Saturday morning, May 10, 2003, in Gundersen Lutheran Hospital at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He had reached the age of 56 years, 5 months, and 23 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia and was a life-time member there. He attended the Castalia and Postville Schools. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. On October 7, 1972 Clinton was married to Beverly Jean Hansmeier in the Salem United Church of Christ by the Reverend Walter Clausing. To this union three children were born.
Clinton worked on the family farm and then was employed by Schneider Motorways for five years. For the last several years he was self-employed and hauled grain for area farmers.
Clinton loved his work and loved to drive his semi. His special dog "Scooter" always accompanied him on these trips. Clinton enjoyed his family, including children and grandchildren. He liked the color blue, the wild flower called Bleeding Hearts that grew in the woods in the spring, and listening to his favorite radio station, K Viking Gold out of Decorah. His hobbies included camping, fishing, his International tractors, Franklin Mint toys, and working in the yard, and he liked going on family vacations every year.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Schnuelle, and two nephews, Grant Koopman, and Rodney Schnuelle.
Surviving is his wife, Beverly, three children, Michelle Lynn (Michael) Engelhardt, of Waucoma, IA, Todd Edward Schnuelle and special friend, Beth Jones, and Jonathan Michael Schnuelle, all of Castalia, two grandchildren, Dalton Lee Engelhardt, Maddison Nichole Engelhardt, and two step-grandchildren, Justin Michael Engelhardt, and Tiffany Rae Engelhardt, one sister, Judy (Arvin) Koopman, of Dalton, WI, three brothers, Eddie (Betty) Schnuelle, Raymond (Lois) Schnuelle, Alan (Judy) Schnuelle, and one sister-in-law, Karen Schnuelle, all of Castalia, and several nieces and nephews and friends.
