Katherine Ireta Horen Passed away Monday evening, November 10, 1924, at her home on Oak Street, Decorah, Iowa after an illness of three weeks, Diptheria was the cause of her demise. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 11th, and burial was made in the Catholic Cemetery. Father Hogan officiated.

Katherine Horen was born July 27, 1913, in Decorah, Iowa and was the daughter of Dennis and Mary (Werhan) Horen. She was a pupil of St. Benedict's Catholic Church.

The deceased is survived by her father, and two sisters, Lauretta K. and Thora D. Horen. Katherine Horen was a general favorite among her many friends. She possessed the qualities that drew out affection and esteem, and she already gave evidence of substantial character and active mind that made her future one of very bright prospects. Seldom have deaths occurred in Decorah that have caused such widespread sorrow as the untimely passing of Katherine Horen and her Mother, Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Horen.

Among those from away who attended Katherine's funeral, were Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Werhan, of Cresco, Ia. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Werhan, of Ridgeway, Ia. Mr. and Mrs. E. Werhan, of Osage, Ia. and Mr. John Murtha and daughter, Mabel, of Cresco.
